About The Art Lab

The Art Lab was founded by Jocelyn Sewell, an experienced educator and arts leader with a long-standing passion for working with children and cultivating creativity through meaningful, high-quality instruction. After years of serving students and families through schools, community programs, and arts initiatives, Jocelyn created The Art Lab as a space where children could explore art with intention, confidence, and joy. Her vision was simple but powerful: to offer an after-school program that blends structure with imagination, allowing every child to feel capable, supported, and inspired.

Jocelyn has earned a reputation as a trusted educator and a favorite among children for her calm leadership, engaging teaching style, and genuine care for students. Families value her ability to connect with children, create a positive and respectful learning environment, and guide students in a way that feels both encouraging and purposeful. Her experience working with diverse learners has shaped a program that meets children where they are while gently challenging them to grow artistically and personally.

At The Art Lab, Jocelyn’s goal is to provide more than just an art class — she strives to create a creative community where students feel safe to take risks, proud of their work, and excited to learn. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to build skills, spark curiosity, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Through The Art Lab, Jocelyn hopes to leave a lasting impact on children and families by nurturing creativity, confidence, and a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom.

At The Art Lab, our mission is to cultivate creativity, confidence, and artistic skill in every student through high-quality, engaging art instruction. We believe art is more than an activity—it is a powerful tool for self-expression, problem-solving, and personal growth. Our core values are rooted in excellence, creativity, and community. We value individualized instruction, hands-on exploration across diverse art mediums, and a supportive environment where students feel safe to take creative risks. At The Art Lab, we foster respect for artistic expression, celebrate effort and growth, and inspire a lifelong appreciation for the arts while nurturing confident, capable creators.

🌾 Fridays on the Farm

Coming Soon

Fridays on the Farm is an upcoming family enrichment experience created by Jocelyn Sewell, a local farm animal owner and educator with a heart for hands-on learning. With community support, this program will offer a unique blend of agriculture, gardening, art, and farm animal education, designed to connect families to nature through meaningful, engaging experiences.

Two Fridays each month, families will be invited to participate in interactive workshops focused on farm animals, where children and adults alike will learn about animal care, responsibility, and agricultural basics. Each workshop will continue with a gardening activity and an art-based project or craft, reinforcing learning through creativity and hands-on exploration.

Fridays on the Farm is being thoughtfully developed to provide a safe, educational, and enriching environment where families can learn together, create together, and build a deeper appreciation for agriculture, animals, and the arts. More details, dates, and registration information will be coming soon — we can’t wait to welcome you to the farm!
